Great Lake Swimmers – Various Stages

This song has been one of my favorites for some time now. I often listen to it.  It is not new, it is not on any radar, but it is always on mine. I searched for a video but they just have this live version. It is a one of the most simply lovely songs I have heard. Please enjoy and have a great weekend. ~sodapopgirl

Delorean – Subiza- “Stay Close”

Spanish Indie-pop band Delorean recently released their third album Subiza. The video is brilliant and perfectly captures the feeling of summer. Even if you are into darker sounds, hard rifs, this song and video can’t help but make you smile, tap your toes, and want to dive into the ocean and play in the waves. Shake it Delorean.

Bands I love – Poster Art by Micah Smith

Micah Smith’s brilliant poster art can be found along with some great tee’s over at his site My Associate Cornelius. I of course wanted to find more information on Micah, his work, his process- what I found was “Micah Smith 1982 – present” I actually think that is sort of perfect.  Shake it Micah.

The Tallest Man On Earth – The Wild Hunt (live)

Scandinavian folksinger the Tallest Man on Earth (also known as Kristian Matsson) has released this live version of The Wild Hunt off his recent album of the same name. Yes, it would be easy to go to the Dylan comparison, or that I’m not all that into the indie folk trend, however this song is downright wonderful. So, take the time to listen up, it is a good one. I’m lovin The Tallest Man On Earth. Shake it.

Male Bonding – Nothing Hurts- “Year’s Not Long”

Male Bonding is a three piece out of London appropriately signed to Subpop. Their debut album ‘Nothing Hurts’ brings me back to the music I know and love. While many reviews mention similarities to Jay Mascus, a throw back to the 90′s, and low-fi sounds…that description alone simply rings my bell. Male Bonding has an updated, indie punk rock energy, mixed with wonderfully scrappy melodies. Check out the video for their single “Nothing Hurts” it is well worth it. Thanks for shakin it Male Bonding.

Tame Impala – Solitude is Bliss

Tame Impala a three piece indie band out of Australia just released their first album ‘Inner Speaker’. Tame Impala was formed from Kevin Parker’s original blues/jazz/psychedelic band, the Dee Dee Dums in 2007. In a smart move the band first streamed on Myspace and simultaneously released a phenomenal video. The video is worth watching, a cinematic experience to say the least. This wonderful single is psych rock bliss… I can’t wait to soak up the rest of the album, now sitting in my tunes happily awaiting my ears. Shake it guys.

Caribou- ‘Odessa’ on Repeat

Dan Snaith otherwise known as Caribou has released ‘Swim’ an album which has helped change the way I think about music. Having been avidly opposed to what I deemed to be electronic music in the past, a number of albums recently released have solidified for me that electronic music can have many forms and facets. What I considered “not real music” in fact may be… Indie electronic, indie dance, whatever genre Caribou falls into, ‘Swim’ is an incredible piece of work. The video is haunting and the melodies while at times lonely, have beauty and texture. Shake it Caribou.
