Rebecca Rothfus – Paintings

Rebecca Rothfus documents her fascination with cell phone towers in her minimal paintings. She incorporates abstract, geometric imagery representative of sound waves and rays of sun to further idealize the cell towers. She says “they carry with them a feeling of optimism and progress yet serve as a reminder of our dependence on technology and rapid development of land.” Shake it Rebecca.

Paintings by Jennifer Mercede

I am loving the paintings of Portland based artist Jennifer Mercede. She has a wonderful way of mixing acrylics, colored pencils, pen and cray-pas to create brightly colored abstracts with a bit of graffiti shining through. “My work is designed to uplift your soul. It is positive, spiritual in origin and one look at the honesty and warmth captured in my pieces makes a viewer smile”. Shake it Jennifer.

Kirra Jamison – Love Me Two Times

Colorful, bold, and organic. What’s not to love about the “Love me two times” series by Kirra Jamison. Her new works on paper are delightfully fresh. Shake it.

Russell Leng – Landscape Painting

Artist Russell Leng‘s paintings “investigate the binaries of city and wilderness within abstracted shapes positioned in ethereal spaces” or in my mind’s eye I see organic, geometric, contemporary paintings that I like a lot. Doesn’t have quite the same ring, but I call it like I see it. And I say Artist Russell Leng knows how to shake it.

Rachel Ann Austin – Birds on a Wire

Anyone close to me knows I have a thing for birds on a wire, so when I happened upon Rachel Ann Austin’s work I gasped. Her mixed media Map Series is done with maps and layers of transparent paint on wood panels. The works are each named after a location from the map used in the painting. To top it off she is from Portland, Oregon. I can’t wait to see her pieces in person! Shake it.

Liz Flores – Paintings

24 year old Elizabeth Flores studied at Savannah College of Design, with a BFA in Advertising, and a concentration on Painting. She is currently working on this series, capturing intimate moments of interpersonal relationships. Such an inspiration…she is now freelancing for clients while working on her MFA in fine art. It was quite the surprise to come across her work, and then to find out that she is still studying. She is certainly a talent I will look forward to following. Shake it Liz!
