Amber Ibarreche

I love these drawings by Brooklyn artist Amber Ibarreche. Capricious magazine said this about her work: “Ibarreche’s drawings are comprised of repetitive, nearly obsessive linear marks, which are then contained by geometrical “vessels.” The results are her personal records of what she sees as infinite possibilities of time, image and space.” They caught my eye for many reasons…

mainly because I recently started making jewelry. I have found myself spending hours in bead stores staring down at huge tables of natural stones, trinkets, and crystals. How perfect the top drawing would be for above my work desk…. shake it.

Kirra Jamison – Love Me Two Times

Colorful, bold, and organic. What’s not to love about the “Love me two times” series by Kirra Jamison. Her new works on paper are delightfully fresh. Shake it.

The Artwork of Nick Lamia

When I saw Nick Lamia‘s artwork on Plastolux the other day I gasped. I love it when I find artwork that grabs ahold of me like that. Wonderful use of color and shape. Modern landscapes but with warmth and depth. “My abstract artworks are embodiments of this integration. Linear, diagrammatic structures mixed with planes of color render partial views, or fragmentary maps of imagined spaces, both miniscule and vast, where nature and technology meet. Contrast among my forms and counterintuitive color combinations are metaphors for a world where technology and ecology are in symbiosis despite their contrast.” Shake it Nick.

Junktion Design Transforms Trash into Treasure

Started in 2008 Junktion, a young, edgy and innovative design studio, is breathing new life into the trash their city has cast aside. They have made a name for themselves in the contemporary design community with their unique approach to function, and dedication to challenging how people regard junk. Upcycling at it’s best, from old TVs transformed into lights, to a found chairs bench, their site is light hearted, inspiring and pretty darn fascinating. Shake it Junktion.

Russell Leng – Landscape Painting

Artist Russell Leng‘s paintings “investigate the binaries of city and wilderness within abstracted shapes positioned in ethereal spaces” or in my mind’s eye I see organic, geometric, contemporary paintings that I like a lot. Doesn’t have quite the same ring, but I call it like I see it. And I say Artist Russell Leng knows how to shake it.
