The Impossible Project Instant Lab

The Impossible Project has done it again. Last year I blogged about their limited edition SX 70 Polaroid camera. Now they have created a device that turns your iPhone pictures into instant film photos. “Even we instant film aficionados take a lot of pictures with our iPhones, so we wanted to find a way to turn those digital iPhone images into true instant photos. Well … we invented it. The Impossible Instant Lab“ I love it when I get to say, shake it like a polaroid picture!

Thanks iheartmies for the awesome link.

Magnetic LED Bike Light – Kickstarter

The Magnetic Bike Light is a new product designed by Goodmorning Technology for Copenhagen Parts. They have a Kickstarter  going with 16 days left, and only $6000 left to reach their goal. With an expected retail price of $40, the magnetic LED simply attaches to any steel framed part of your bike, automatically switching on for your bike ride and then off again when you remove it. How cool is that!? If you want to buy one and back their project at the same time, visit their kickstarter page here. Shake it.

BOWDEN + SHEFFIELD Minimalist iPad Cases

The student-run design company Fine Grain just launched a product on Kickstarter called the BOWDEN + SHEFFIELD Minimalist iPad Cases. The two cases were built upon the idea of creating an iPad case that is sturdy enough to take a beating, yet sleek enough for any given setting. They’re made from natural materials and each have a magnetic closure system that keeps your iPad securely in place.

The Bowden is milled from aircraft grade aluminum and features walnut or cherry hardwood side finishes, along with a black or brown full-grain leather magnetic enclosure. The Sheffield is made from milled polycarbonate which doubles as a dry-erase board (how cool is that) and comes with a felt magnetic cover. Check out their Kickstarter here. Shake it guys.

Project Aura – Bicycle Safety Lighting System

And yet another awesome Kickstarter project – “We created a system that requires very little rider input and maintenance, while increasing the visual footprint of bikers from all directions especially from the side. We accomplished this by expanding the surface area of light emitted through the use of RGB LEDs inside the rims of the wheels that change from red when slowing down to white when at cruising speed.”

iPhone CDock

Now that the the iPhone has replaced the watch, alarm clock, discman, and so many more gadgets we need to make a few adjustments. The CDock is another great Kickstarter project that turns your phone into a handsome bedside clock. This thick piece of solid walnut with either a brushed aluminum or glossy resin face plate was designed by two guys in my hometown of Portland, Oregon. You simply start your clock app of choice and slide your phone into the fully enclosed sleeve and it will seamlessly dock and begin to charge. Shake it.

Iphone Camera Case – Kickstarter Awesomeness

The brothers at un design have developed a way to get the iphone camera out of your pocket and in front of you where it should be. Ya never know when the perfect shot is going to present itself. The UN01 is a simple protective plastic slide case with a neck strap that rotates the phone into landscape orientation. As a reminder that now everyone is photographer, the body and raised lens design replicate a point and shoot. Kickstarter users should head over to their project page, pledges start at 30 USD for a white or black version. 1-2-3 smile! Shake it un design.

Sustainable Design – Refillable Bamboo Notebook

Designer Jaybill McCarthy had an idea. A notebook that instead of being disposable, would be refillable and solid, like a quality piece of furniture. He chose bamboo because it is a sturdy, light wood. Once the notebook is full you can use a binder ring to archive the old pages and then refill it. Something to be kept for a lifetime.

Jaybill decided to do it. He started a kickstarter page and is raising money to fund the Bamboo Notebooks. I just learned about Kickstarter. If you pledge $25 for example and he reaches the goal he sends you a notebook! If the goal is not reached then you are not charged. His brief video is inspiring. I want him to reach his goal. Wonderful to see someone have an idea, take a risk, and go for it. Shake it Jaybill! Learn more about his kickstarter page here.
