JacQ Vintage Ruler Cuffs

Jacqueline von Tesmar makes all of her pieces in a small studio in Brooklyn, New York. She disassembles the rulers and shapes them into bracelets with light hammering and filing, vintage and new, no two are exactly alike. I just adore them and what makes them even more special are her detailed descriptions of each….

“This is a handmade round bangle from a vintage Stanley fold out ruler. It is aluminum with a steel bracket on the inside of one end where the ruler used to be riveted together. The numbers and marking lines are raised and a the original black coloring is mostly intact. The bangle measures approximately 7″ round x 1/2″ wide and has a 1/2″ space for rooling it over your wrist, and can be closed down a little once it’s on. The numbers on the outside are 1 through 5, and the numbers on the inside are 67 through 71. This piece says ‘Stanley’, ‘SW’ in a heart, ‘No. 426′ and ‘Made in U.S.A.’ on the outside. On the inside; “PAT’D 12-2-13″ and “1-9-17-12-4-17″ on theinside. ’JACQ 2011′ is engraved on the end.” Shake it JacQ.

Fragmented Chronicles Ring – Shannnam

I’m not sure what it is about life in miniature that I get such a kick out of. Terrariums, modern twists on snow globes and now rings. Hong kong-based design duo shannnam showed Fragmented Chronicles at this year’s tokyo designboom mart. The collection is made up of 100 rings, each with a landscape frozen inside. “The jewelry spans different topics, from children’s characters to nuns standing in the snow, a woman walking with a suitcase to a shepherd with his sheep. each is a visual story invoking a reaction and stirring the imagination of the wearer.” Shake it.

Nest Pretty Things

I found the wonderful etsy shop, Nest Pretty Things on Poppytalk Homemade’s online market. I could get lost in all the shops there, but stopped in awe when I came to Nest Pretty Things. Delightful color for spring.

“…after graduating from Parsons School of Design in NYC , I worked in Women magazines as a Creative Director, Style Editor and Photo Stylist. Five years ago our family of five moved away from the big city life to a small rural Village in the beautiful lake Champlain valley in Vermont where we could start fulfilling our life long dream of living in the country and having our own home business. I’ve been designing a line of fun and colorful accessories for women and children and enjoy every minute of it…”

Shake it Tamar.

Somniative

somniative is a maker of things whose raw materials are culled from places both near and far where the discarded and unused lie, awaiting the sacred return to the realm of human caring and love in celebration of life, beauty, freedom, and joy. It is thru the merger of these materials and the magic they endure that trifling pieces of finery are created. may these brings you joy”

These magical pieces are made from upcycled bottle caps. Many are from Honest Tea and other natural brands. These companies cleverly include a quote on the inside of their caps so that becomes a secret message for you. One of my favorites “A person is not old until regrets take the place of dreams” – John Barrymore. These can be beautiful necklaces, broaches, magnets, or simply little pieces of wonder. From installations to Jewelry, Somniative is shakin it.

Demistache – Mustache Love

A family Friend, Rachel White, is the great mind behind Demistache Jewelry and her other feature collection Demitasse Jewelry.”The Demistache pendant collection delivers moustache humor and eccentricity through the glamorous medium of fine and costume jewelry. Whether the reference is King George, Nietzsche, or ideas such as androgyny or surrealism, the moustache is a witty way to evoke puzzling figures and concepts.” Featured in magazines from Marie Claire, to In Style she has created a sophisticated, glamourous, light hearted line. Rachel White knows how to shake it.

Kristina Klarin – Necklaces

Italian Kristina Klarin makes these wonderfully simple necklaces that I just adore. They are made from wooden beads, water based lacquer paint and leather string. The length is adjustable, and so pocket friendly that I am tempted to order them for my girlfriends for the holidays. A perfect accessory to wear with jeans and a basic top, or a plain knit dress that needs a bit of color. Shake it Kristina.
