Bike Love – Biascagne Cicli x Rik Guasco

I saw this gorgeous bike over on Cycle Exif yesterday and let out a *gasp*. I’m in love. Each year the Italian custom bicycle house Biascagne Cicli creates a special bicycle, offers it for sale and the proceeds are given to a charity. This year a guest is collaborating, the talented artist and designer Riccardo Guasco.

This one-off work of velo-art is for sale for €1,222. All of the proceeds will go to the Città della Speranza (the City of Hope), an institute dedicated to finding a cure for childhood leukemia and caring for those suffering from the disease. Shake it.

Rob’s Woodwork Alien

Rob Pollock has been perfecting the art of faux woodgraining for 40 years. Traditionally used in the restoration of classic cars and vintage hot rods, Rob now applies the technique to custom bike frames; this one is an Alien frame. He paints each frame by hand and finishes it with a two pot epoxy resin to give a hard finish…

He spent the majority of his career in the automotive industry, a panel beater by trade (I had to google that one, it’s an auto body guy) he carried on the family business RJ Pollock & Sons, from his father. They were one of the premier panel and paint repair companies in New Zealand. How cool is it that he now works on these top of the line cycle frames?! Love it. Shake it Rob.

Icarus – Bike Love

Ian Sutton is Icarus Frames. He designed this bike to be ridden on the streets daily, but also to be suitable for track racing. It was shown in the Philly Bike Expo. I love the simple lines and the hand-carved detail. Sutton says “Icarus is now my life. Each frame is an opportunity to expand the look and design of Icarus. People aren’t stock so neither are my bikes – each one crafted for the particular client, in fit, ride characteristics and aesthetics.” Oh what a crush I have on this bike! Shake it.

Only The Brave Fixie By Diesal And Pinarello

Oh my, look at the urban singlespeed/fixie by fashion brand Diesel and bike maker Pinarello. Only the Brave features a uniquely shaped hydroformed aluminum frame, an internal cable routing for the rear brake to keep it looking clean, and will be available in Diesel Green and Matt Black versions. Riding and passion moves closer to fashion…what a crush I have on this bike!

Rose/Rain City Fix

Rain/Rose City Fix is a photography project started by Photographer Brenton Salo and Designer Aaron Edge. They decided to put together a book of photographs featuring fixed gear cyclists and their bikes. On a rainy day in January of 2008 they and over 65 Seattle cyclists along with their bikes crammed into a small studio on Capitol Hill for photo shoot…

\

Brenton and Aaron both felt that Rain City Fix was just the beginning and they soon decided to begin production on a second book featuring cyclists and bikes in Brenton’s hometown of Portland, Oregon. Brenton spent over a year year photographing fixed gear riders in Portland, their bikes, and the city. The photos have been compiled into a book called Rose City Fix.

Adams Carvalho is a Portugese illustrator who’s latest work is entitled Ffffixas. I think this series is just spectacular. The color palette, the detail, and well, I love artwork of people riding bikes. It is a piece of life captured that makes me happy. Riding my bike sets me free. Shake it Adams.

Cycles Mercier

I’m always shopping for a new bicycle. Most of the time it is dreaming, like walking through the Prada department at Barney’s and standing in front of a dress for a long time. Recently my friend Eli told me to check out Mercier bikes. He said they are good bikes with free shipping. He knows his stuff, so I spent some time on their site today. We have a winner. This is what Mercier says about their cycles,”Lightness, responsiveness, speed, agility, reliability, longevity, durability, value and beauty. All these characteristics should be synthesized and represented in the classic road bicycle.”  Let’s ride Mercier. Shake it.

Bicycle Skirt Garters – Bird Industries

And the next thing you know someone came up with the best idea ever, the Skirt-Garter by Bird Industries. “You don’t have to give up style when you ride your bike. Keep the earth happy, earn your hipster street cred doing track stands and fixie skids, and do it all looking good in a skirt.” Shake it.

Christophe Robillard – Victor Bike – Fixed Concept

Victor bike is a concept bicycle created by montreal based designer Christophe Robillard. The design features a bent tubular (I just like to say tubular) frame that appears to be continuous. The bend is most noticeable in the back wheel, where the ends of the tube eventually connects to the left and right rear axle. Victor is a fixed gear bike with a chain guard, and a front wheel hand brake. It is equipped with reflectors on the back fender and front tube. I suppose that it why it is a concept bike, hand brake, chair guards, fender, and yet fixed. Victor is kinda crazy… beautiful. Shake it.

Nike Trackbike Football

GOrilla and Nike teamed up to make this short video. Some amazing moves, humor, and a tune by WILDLIFE! make it great fun to watch. I love to see new sports like this, maybe it’s not new… sure is new to me. It reminds me of NY street hockey but better. So the players in this scene are: Andrea Schiliro (Milan), Pierre “Le Lama” Emm (Paris), Hugo Laguerbe (Paris), Patrick Seabase (Bern), Wälde Le Mech (Zürich), Nicola E. Stäubli (Bern), and Romain Abeille (Paris), all I might add shakin it to no end. let the game begin!
