Stuck Chair by OATO Design Office

I do believe it’s been a while since I have mentioned a fabulous chair. So here it is—the Stuck Chair by OATO Design Office. It was created by taking apart all the elements of an archetypical chair and rearranging them as if they were simply stuck together. This way it doesn’t need additional supports. All the elements now have a supporting role in the total structure of the chair. The chair is made entirely of oak wood and powder coated steel, not to mention it looks super cool. Shake it.

Nord Chair – David Geckeler

The Nord is created by Berlin based design student David Geckeler. David says –  “Danish for nerd, geek, crank – this describes the main character and design of this chair. Made out of laminated wood assembled without any metal parts it follows the idea of concentrating on the detail and keeping the moulding process down to earth. An important technical and formal feature is that backrest and seat are only stacked together. Every part statically interacts with the other to define a solid structure of laminated shells and parts made out of solid oak wood.” Shake it .

Flow Chair – MDF Italia

Jean Marie Massaud’s Flow chair for MDF Italia had me at hello. A hard outer shell with a soft inside, it can be sturdy and supportive, or laid back and relaxed depending on your mood. With many choices of finishes and styles The Flow Chair is suitable for dining, office, or living spaces. And of course, this being MDF Italia, every element is perfectly finished. Shake it.

Changeable Chair – Wing Fung Ng

The Changeable Chair was designed for small urban spaces. I am always looking for functional design that caters to many of us who often work from home. This chair which transforms into a coffee table, and even a workspace for your laptop is just that. Wing Fung Ng originally came up with the concept after recognizing that in many cities such as Hong Kong, small living quarters often need to be transformed into work spaces. But what a lovely concept for working in your yard, or on your front porch. The changeable chair allows you and your current project to move around freely. Shake it.
