Sketchbook Packs and Panniers

Amber Jensen has created a line of bespoke wool, waxed canvas and leather knapsacks. Every Sketchbook pack is handmade with fine attention to detail using quality materials. Inspired from 1800′s and early 1900′s mountaineering gear, her packs are designed with performance, durability and style in mind. She uses waxed canvas, leather, soft wool, rubber backed wool, and lines with water resistant cotton duck cloth, they are perfect for even the most rainy days. Shake it Amber.

Find Your Happy Upcycled Baskets

Sarah is a designer living in New South Wales. She is Find Your Happy. Sarah creates these wonderful baskets—the first are from a series called ‘Roped in Neon’. They are made with natural cotton rope and nylon brickies line. The other series, ‘Waste Paper Baskets’ are  made from recycled junk mail. She uses various pages of junk mail twisted and stitched into form. Sarah hand sews all of her baskets from found materials and coil them into unique shapes. No two baskets are the same. She says “I have a keen interest in sustainability and utilizing found materials in my work. Every one of my designs are hand made with love.”  Shake it Sarah.

Gypsya Handmade Blankets

Gypsya is a collective of three families of artists collaborating together to create beautiful handmade treasures. Their blankets are some of the most beautiful I have seen. Each is quilted on a beautiful screen print using 100% organic cotton and natural dyes. They are hand dyed, hand stitched, and each one of a kind. Available in twin, queen or king and they even have pillows to match. Shake it Gypsya.

Pelle Design Bubble Lights

Well I am still loving Jean Pelle’s chandeliers. The lightweight chandeliers are created by tying together hand-blown glass balls with cables and cotton twine. Originally designed by Jean Pelle for ReadyMade Magazine, it’s a beautiful design you can make yourself, or if you aren’t feeling quite that crafty, visit his etsy shop where he has many new designs available. Shake it and sparkle Jean Pelle.

Debbie Carlos – Ice Cream Cone

I adore Debbie Carlos Posters. I have been pining over which one I should get for above my sofa. I think I have finally settled on the ice cream cone. With my charcoal sofa, some bright pillows and one giant ice cream cone dry mounted above—that just sounds like a happy space. Shake it Debbie, your work makes me smile.

The Impossible Project Instant Lab

The Impossible Project has done it again. Last year I blogged about their limited edition SX 70 Polaroid camera. Now they have created a device that turns your iPhone pictures into instant film photos. “Even we instant film aficionados take a lot of pictures with our iPhones, so we wanted to find a way to turn those digital iPhone images into true instant photos. Well … we invented it. The Impossible Instant Lab“ I love it when I get to say, shake it like a polaroid picture!

Thanks iheartmies for the awesome link.

Ryan Mcginley – Beautiful Rebels

Photographer Ryan Mcginley created this brilliant video for Edun’s Spring 2012 campaign. Set to the lovely “If I Had A Little Love” by the Majestic Arrows, six species of butterflies decorate the fingers, shoulders and cheekbones of young models. The film is punctuated with key pieces from the collection, such as a hand-crocheted pair of shorts or a laser-cut blouse. “I was interested in how the body could reveal the butterfly,” explains McGinley, “how it could fly out of the models’ mouths, hands or pants in its unfurling glory.” Beautiful. Shake it Ryan.

Magnetic LED Bike Light – Kickstarter

The Magnetic Bike Light is a new product designed by Goodmorning Technology for Copenhagen Parts. They have a Kickstarter  going with 16 days left, and only $6000 left to reach their goal. With an expected retail price of $40, the magnetic LED simply attaches to any steel framed part of your bike, automatically switching on for your bike ride and then off again when you remove it. How cool is that!? If you want to buy one and back their project at the same time, visit their kickstarter page here. Shake it.

Genbyg (recycled) Design

Genbyg Design (recycled design) specializes in making furniture from upcycled building materials. In their Copenhagen workshop they create unique, functional pieces with the emphasis on sustainable design. This piece is one of my favorites, a desk made from old filing drawers and salvaged Oregon pine. Shake it.
