Letterpress Necklaces – Erica Weiner

A work-study program at the New York Center for Book Arts uncovered something brilliant, a gold mine of old moveable iron type. Originally used on hand-cranked Vandercook Proof Presses, Erika Weiner has transfromed them into a series of delightful necklaces. Each piece of type used were worn out ever so slightly by normal printing use, and were consigned to a bin to be melted down and re-cast. These obsolete pieces (each measures a little under 1″ long) have been rescued, plated in sterling silver, or 14k gold and hung from a 22″ silver-plated brass, or 14k gold plated figaro chain. You can choose from a single hanging letter, two separate pieces, or the new combined design. Erika has an amazing Etsy shop of Jewelry. It is well worth the trip over to browse through her timeless creations. Shake it Erica.
