Dutch artist Ashkan Honavar‘s work tends to change drastically from series to series—some are definitely not for the squeamish and some are let’s just say a bit more risque than this one, entitled Conquest from 2011. Dee Dee (my grandma) just look at this one ok? Conquest was inspired by European colonial history. I find them luxurious, lavish and yet oddly unsettling. Ashkan’s work depicts an undeniable, unavoidable beauty by accepting the darker sides of human nature. Oh dear Ashkan I do believe you know how to shake it.
